Care guide

Good care starts with an appropriate diet and the needs of the individual animal. A supplement should have a clear place in that picture.

For dogs

If your dog's movement or comfort has changed, start with a veterinary assessment. When considering a supplement, look at the full ingredient list, amounts, directions for their weight and any restrictions.

For cats

The right format matters. Check how a product should be given, how much your cat actually consumes and how it needs to be stored. Ongoing digestive changes should be discussed with your vet.

For hamsters

A complete diet suitable for hamsters comes first. Extra vitamins are not automatically needed when an animal is appropriately fed. Products made for another species should not be assumed suitable.

Before adding something new

  • Check the species, age and any restrictions on the label.
  • Discuss existing health conditions and medication with your vet.
  • Use only the final product's directions; don't guess a serving amount.
  • Keep the packaging, batch information and storage instructions.
